Susan auditioned for the talent show, which is an all-star spin-off which sees former winners and finalists compete, and performed Wild Horses to the delight of the four judges. After her performance, Mel B of the Spice Girls told Boyle it was "an honor and pleasure" to hear her sing before slamming on the golden buzzer.

"It's great to be back", Boyle, declared just before she was given the stage to impress the audience with her voice.

The Scottish star made it to the final but came in second second place to Ashley Banjo's dance crew Diversity.

Following a standing ovation, Simon added: "I can't think of any other contestant who has defined this show better than if I'm being honest with you".

The internationally acclaimed singer returned to where it all began, almost a decade after finishing in second place on Season 3 of Britain's Got Talent in 2009. "I want to be the woman who gives you something that she deserves".

"I'm excited to show Simon how much I've grown since the last time he saw me".

"Susan, I'm genuinely beyond thrilled that you're here tonight", Cowell told Boyle.

"America's Got Talent: The Champions" airs Monday on NBC and brings together past contestants who were fan favorites.

Still, Boyle says she has "something to prove" on The Champions, and calls herself a champion "for those who don't have the confidence to do things, for those who don't have a voice (and) the ones who people tend to ignore".

Since the show, Boyle has sold more than 20 million albums and had two Grammy nominations. Her hit albums have topped the charts in the United Kingdom and sold more than 20 million copies around the world.
