Broncos coaching search down to two

Fangio enjoyed a stellar run this previous year with the Bears under head coach Matt Nagy.

In the meantime the task in front of the Bears is finding a replacement for Fangio, dubbed "evil genius" by linebacker Khalil Mack, and it will not an easy assignment despite the fact that Fangio's successor takes over a unit already among the NFL's best and with only one returning starter (Prince Amukamara) who will be age 30 when the 2019 season opens.

The team fired Vance Joseph last month at the conclusion of a 6-10 campaign that saw the Broncos miss the playoffs for the third straight year since winning Super Bowl 50. It ended abruptly for Fangio on Sunday as the team with the No. 1-ranked defense went one-and-done in the playoffs for the first time since the 2011 Pittsburgh Steelers.

It's down to two for the Denver Broncos.

"The different voice, and we both decided to make the change", Elway said. There was not going to be a better time than now so when the offer presented itself, it made sense for Fangio to take it. Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay, San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan and newly hired Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur represent the next-wave profile across the league.

USA companies also want action on Chinese policies they complain improperly favor local companies. The foreign ministry spokesman, Lu Kang, said the talks wrapped up Wednesday.

With Fangio in the fold, Gary Kubiak could serve as his offensive coordinator or as an assistant coach.

With Kubiak at Fangio's side, the Broncos want to get back to the offenses that Shanahan and Kubiak ran while still trying to be innovative.

Fangio has never been a head coach at any level. The offense continued a three-year long slump. Kubiak retired after five seasons with the Broncos and a 25-year coaching career following the 2017 season citing health reasons. I want the guys that understand the game, they understand X's and O's but also have the ability to lead men.

Fangio became a popular head coaching candidate after consistently fielding stellar defenses over the greater part of the past decade.
