Todd Bowles close to finding a home on new-look Buccaneers staff

After retiring from coaching for a year, former Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians is coming back to the National Football League sidelines.

One year into retirement, Bruce Arians is reportedly set to return to coaching and take over as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A two-time coach of the year with a background coaching quarterbacks, he stepped down as the Arizona head coach after a five-year run that saw him post a 49-30-1 record.

"Cleveland is the only job I would consider", Arians told the Canton Repository in November.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Buccaneers are signing Arians to a four-year contract with a fifth-year option.

Arians spent the 2018 season in broadcasting.

Bruce Arians is happy to pick up the pieces. He was the offensive coordinator of the 2008 Pittsburgh Steelers team that beat the Cardinals in the Super Bowl and coached quarterbacks that include Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck, Ben Roethlisberger and Carson Palmer.

The Buccaneers required that Arians undergo a physical, Darlington added. After all, Licht worked in the Cardinals' front office during Arians' tenure in Arizona. Former Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury was hired as Arizona's next head coach on Tuesday.
