Apple Addresses iPad Pro 'Bend' Drama With Support Page Outlining Manufacturing Process

Once a device is made, there is an allowance "for no more than 400 microns of deviation across the length of any side - less than the thickness of four sheets of paper" from flawless flatness. "For the first time ever on an iPad, these bands are manufactured using a process called co-molding", Apple says.

Apple goes on to suggest that because the new design features straight edges that any manufacturing deviations may be easier to spot with the naked eye than previous iPad designs, that featured curved edges.

These precision manufacturing techniques and a rigorous inspection process ensure that these new iPad Pro models meet an even tighter specification for flatness than previous generations.

The new support page focused mainly on the Wi-Fi plus Cellular iPad Pro, which is the model reportedly affected the most by the alleged bending issues. After the plastic cools, the enclosure is finished with precision CNC machining operation. And whether or not an iPad Pro bends to the extent exhibited by Zack Nelson in his viral JerryRigEverything review, one would hope that a product potentially running customers more than $1,000 doesn't come bent straight out of the packaging.

For those who believe their iPad is bent beyond the 400-micron specification, Apple invites you to contact Apple Support.

Samsung Have Unveiled Their Latest Smart TV & It's Bloody HUGE
Televisions are always a big star at CES. 8K resolution delivers the most realistic pictures that look sharp, vivid, and detailed. That puts the U9F on par with Samsung's Q9FN QLED, which debuted in 2018 and became one of the best TVs of a year ago .

News Australian teen dies in Austrian avalanche
In neighboring Slovakia, the mountain rescue service said a Slovak man, 37, died from an avalanche in the Mala Fatra mountains. This is the latest of a number of tragic avalanche deaths in Austria after consistently big snowfalls over the past two weeks.

This is the highest discount that Apple is offering on 10.5 inch iPad Pro till date. And, while Apple says there's a factory allowed variance of 400 microns, it's possible that some devices are slipping through the testing process. He'd also said the levels shouldn't change during normal use and don't affect the function of the device.

Apple's new iPad Pro redefines what expensive means for an iOS device, and paves the way for an even more expensive iPhone.

If you want to buy the 256 GB model then it's $799 on Apple website but Amazon is offering 512 GB for the same price.

When it comes to specs, as you would expect, the newer 2018 iPad Pros have the faster A12X Bionic chip with a built-in neural engine for AI-assisted calculations (think augmented reality and voice detection). But it is imperceptible during normal use - and I use this iPad every day. Interestingly, as the Verge notes, Apple doesn't include any images in the advisory about what "400 microns of deviation" looks like.

The 2018 iPad Pros do have slightly larger rear camera lenses, and more obvious antenna lines, but they're only available in silver and space grey.
