Gunman who fatally shot Davis Police Officer Natalie Corona is identified

On Thursday night Davis police officer Natalie Corona was processing the scene of a 3 auto accident, when witnesses say that Limbaugh was lurking in the shadows and then approached Corona, shooting her once in the neck and then several more times after she went to the ground.

Investigators also found a letter on his bed that accused Davis police of using "sonic waves meant to keep dogs from barking" against him.

The suspect went on to say in his note, "I notified the press, Internal Affairs, and even the FBI" and that "he can't live this way anymore".

After opening fire on Corona without warning Thursday night, Limbaugh shot in another direction, including toward a firefighter, Davis police Chief Darren Pytel said Friday.

"He wasn't on the radar as someone who was continuously calling in, expressing hate for us", Davis Police Spokesman, Lt. Paul Doroshov.

Davis police did not immediately respond Sunday to a telephone message seeking comment on whether Limbaugh had reported his claims to officials.

Limbaugh had been involved in a fight in September with a co-worker at Cache Creek Casino Resort, about 40 miles northwest of Sacramento, according to police and court records.

Limbaugh was reportedly on a bicycle and ambushed the rookie policewoman, shooting her from the shadows before he reloaded and narrowly avoided wounding others. When police surrounded the property he stepped outside wearing a bullet proof vest, shouted at officers and then entered the property again and shot himself dead, police said. Doroshov said Limbaugh went to the station to drop off the firearm.
