Sevilla and Barcelona reach agreement for Munir

A statement from the club read,"FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Munir El Haddadi".

The 23-year-old Munir was in the last six months of his contract with the La Liga champions and was free to sign a pre-contract with Sevilla that would have allowed him to join the club in the summer. The Andalusian club will pay FC Barcelona 1,050,000 euros to sign the striker.

The Spaniard was a star of the Barcelona Under-19 side that won the UEFA Youth League in 2014, and went on to make a total of 56 appearances for his boyhood club.

A loan to Alaves followed the next season and saw Munir improve on his strike-rate, finding the net 10 times in 33 La Liga matches, starting 28 of them.

The league leaders want back-up for Luis Suarez after Sevilla agreed a one-million-euro ($1.15-million) deal to buy Spain worldwide Munir on Friday, leaving the Uruguayan as the only No. 9 at the club, playing between Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele.

A Spain youth worldwide, Munir has been capped once for the senior side, coming on for a 13-minute appearance against Macedonia in 2014.

The player touted to fill that requirement, Sports.es understands, is Chelsea and former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

Sevilla had met with Morata's representatives over a potential deal but found the proposed loan move too expensive.

Munir's transfer is subject to a successful medical and the news of his move came swiftly after Sevilla revealed they had agreed a deal with Ajax to bring in Wober.
