The Center for Disease Prevention and Control (KEELPNO) said on Thursday that a total of 18 people -14 men and four women, ranging from 25 to 90 - have died of flu complications since the beginning of the year.

It said Global Positioning System were also reporting an increase in flu-like illnesses at their surgeries and PathWest was seeing more confirmed flu cases. And although a cold can be a nuisance, you usually feel much worse with the flu.

Around 847 of North Dakota flu cases this season occurred in children ages 10 and under, Galbraith said. More than 200 people have been hospitalized for the flu.

State health officials say it's not late to get a flu vaccine and encourage people to do so. Jamie Dukes with the Oklahoma Health Department says hospitalizations are 522 statewide, with 22 fatalities reported since the flu season began in September.

"The majority of cases have been reported in the Perth metropolitan area, but regional areas are also experiencing higher-than-normal influenza activity", she said.

The most recent data, from January 19, shows there have been more than 1,200 laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza in DE this season- although officials note there are likely more untested cases circulating statewide.
