Bucks, Pistons agree to trade involving Thon Maker-Stanley Johnson, reports say

Thon Maker hasn't lived up to expectation as a member of the Bucks, but the Pistons hope a change of scenery may invigorate him.

The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired forward Nikola Mirotic from the New Orleans Pelicans in a three-team deal. Maker is averaging 4.7 points and 2.7 rebounds this season with the Bucks in roughly 11 minutes per game.

Mirotic, who is making $12.5 million this season, will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

In exchange, New Orleans will receive the expiring contract of veteran big man Jason Smith and Stanley Johnson, who was traded to Milwaukee in exchange for Thon Maker on Wednesday.

Maker, the 10th overall pick in the 2016 draft, showed flashes in his two-plus years with the Bucks, but could never gain a foothold in the regular rotation.

Often a source of energy on the court when he did play, Maker's standout performance this year was when he had 15 points and five rebounds in a home win against Utah on January 7.

Originally drafted by the Pistons with the eighth overall pick in 2015, Johnson's entry-level contract expires in 2020. Unfortunately for those following the Anthony Davis sweepstakes, though, it's a different New Orleans big man.

Miles, also a free agent in 2020, is averaging 5.5 points with a.314 shooting percentage from 3-point range. He had surgery after suffering a dislocated left thumb on December 12 and has not played since.

There are also a number of referrals of banking institutions to ASIC as a result of findings from the Royal Commission. Shares of Mortgage Choice Ltd plunged 25.2 percent and those of Australian Finance Group Ltd slumped 29.1 percent.

Johnson and Maker are both former top-10 draft picks who have a few National Basketball Association seasons under their belts but are still very young.

Mirotic, 27, is averaging career-highs in both points (16.7) and rebounds (8.3) per game in 2018-19 while shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from three in 32 games (22 starts).

This season, Johnson had been playing with the second unit.

The Bucks are expecting for Mirotic to have the same effect he had for New Orleans last season, as his offensive firepower and outside shooting catapulted them to the playoffs.

Smith was acquired by the Bucks from the Wizards in a three-team trade on December 7, 2018.
