‘Aladdin’ trailer shows first glimpse of Will Smith’s Genie

Previously, fans were gifted with a teaser in October of the forthcoming film but weren't privy to any sighting of Will Smith as the genie originally voiced by the late Robin Williams.

A new trailer for Disney's live-action "Aladdin" dropped Sunday night during the 61st Grammy Awards. Canadian actor Mena Massoud plays Aladdin, with Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine.

At the end, the trailer shows Aladdin rubbing the magical lamp. "Your life begins now, Aladdin". And I say this as someone who's been an ardent defender of Ritchie's last couple of fun-filled blockbusters. "Genie? Wishes? Lamp? None of that ringing a bell?"

Check out the trailer below.

First look at the blue version of Genie got me like.

Canada sentences man who killed 6 in mosque
A Quebec City court handed a life sentence on Friday to the gunman who fatally shot six members of a Quebec mosque in 2017 . Alexandre Bissonnette, 29, pleaded guilty last March to six charges of first-degree murder and six of attempted murder.

5 young teens charged with killing a singer in Nashville
Officers later recovered the stolen Chevy Colorado, which they abandoned in the 1600 block of Timberland Drive. They moved to Nashville, with drummer Christian Ferguson and bassist Michael Wiebell joining in 2016.

Grammys: Who is Brandi Carlile?
The track will compete for more Grammys, including song of the year , record of the year and best pop duo/group performance. Unsurprisingly and well-deservedly, Childish Gambino was given best music video for " This Is America ".

Viewers weren't shy about expressing their shock on social media, with many revealing they were disappointed with how Genie turned out, and some even drawing comparisons to Paul Giamatti's character in Big Fat Liar.

Just saw the #Aladdin preview.

The blueness of the genie seems to sit in opposition to previous studio-released looks of Smith in full genie getup, which feature a decidedly less-blue skin tone.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, the man behind 2009's Sherlock Holmes, Aladdin hits theaters on May 24.
