Danai Gurira is the latest to leave The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead has lost another star.

Lincoln's departure was compounded on Friday night when it was announced that the show's next season - Season 10 - will be the final one for Danai Gurira.

Per the shocking development, Gurira will return as the katana-wielding Michonne for Season 10 in just a few episodes that will be dispersed throughout the season.

Deadline said Gurira, who has played Michonne since Season 3, has signed on to appear in a handful of episodes in Season 10.

The Walking Dead is losing another one of its heroes.

Danai Gurira is bidding farewell to the AMC show, Variety reports.

Nogales, a city of about 20,000 people, is largely reliant on Mexican shoppers and cross-border trade. Customs and Border Protection reportedly surrounded the truck and discovered the driver dead.

The Walking Dead is set to return for the second half of season nine on Sunday, which will herald the arrival of the Whisperers.

Danai's star has been on the rise since starring in Black Panther a year ago, with subsequent appearances in Avengers: Infinity and Avengers: Endgame.

Broadcaster AMC has previously confirmed plans to bring back former Walking Dead lead Andrew Lincoln for a movie trilogy focused on his character, Rick Grimes. We love Danai; we love that character. "But we certainly would want her on the show as long as she wants to be on it,". After that, her character will leave the post-apocalyptic series forever. "We really want her to stay".

She's also expected to reprise her role in the now-confirmed Black Panther 2 - and if all that wasn't enough, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has been vocal about the potential for giving Okoye and the other women of Wakanda their own starring film.

I don't know how surprising this news is, really.
