Special weather statement calls for mixed bag of weather on Wednesday

Snow is expected to begin early Tuesday morning.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather warning statement for the Halton Region.

Forecasters continue to closely watch a developing storm system that could dump up to a foot of snow on areas of southeastern Minnesota Monday night and Tuesday.

Precipitation will turn back to snow Tuesday night as colder air returns in the wake of the low pressure system.

Some areas received more than a foot of snow, and meteorologists say more is on the way early next week.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for almost all of Massachusetts, beginning Tuesday morning for the western part of the state and beginning Tuesday afternoon for Eastern Massachusetts. "Tuesday PM commute could be impacted [with] slick roads, hazardous travel, and low visibility".

Far southern Iowa is expected to deal with a mix of freezing rain and sleet before it changes over to snow late.

Precipitation should ease up starting in the early hours of Wednesday morning, although it could linger into the Wednesday commute, especially north and west of Boston. The storm will then wind down Tuesday evening with any snow coming to an end before midnight Wednesday.

Light snow started to make its way into the interior lowlands in the late afternoon Sunday, the National Weather Service said.

As of Monday morning, the weather service expects almost all of MA to receive at least two inches of snow.

8 p.m. Residents of the Pacific Northwest took to neighbourhood hills with skis, sleds or even just laundry baskets Saturday to celebrate an unusual dump of snow in a region more accustomed to winter rain. Rain and Snow are possible by Friday.
