Winter weather forecasted to strike again Tuesday

Meteorologist Tim Williams and Meg McNamara have been tracking the system and says we could see just over 2 inches of snow mostly north of the city with a Winter Weather Advisory going into effect from 7p.m. tonight until 10a.m. on Monday. "There is a chance that the combined amount of snow, sleet and freezing rain reach levels that would eventually warrant a warning". As it now looks, the heaviest snow may actually occur overnight and into early Tuesday morning.

It looks like students could be in for more snow days this week. This is the area where freezing drizzle/sleet will lead to a light glazing of ice by the end of the day.

Many areas north of M 59 and I-69 will keep seeing snow adding up and could see upwards of 6 inches of snow and very unsafe travel from ice, snow, and blowing snow as the winds pick up too SE/SW 7-17 miles per hour gusting to 25 miles per hour.

- Sunday will start off with sunshine but will transition to clouds by the afternoon before some messy winter weather arrives. A little glaze of ice is possible by late Monday afternoon into the evening north of DC Metro. Areas of blowing snow are also possible with winds out of the east gusting to 30 miles per hour.

The snow is expected to taper off to flurries on Wednesday.

Travel delays and bus cancellations are expected.
