Samuel Robin, his lawyer, said: "His client was involved in a minor altercation involving a cell phone that resulted in a call to law enforcement". Miami Herald said that the entire incident was captured on a surveillance video.

Ahmed Abdirzak has since been named as the person whose phone McGregor allegedly smashed and stole - he is a 22-year old Brit who is apparently a fan of the Irishman.

McGregor is now free on $12,500 bond after being released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and a stint in Miami-Dade Jail.
