Fake Melania? President Donald Trump responds to Alabama visit conspiracy theory

A weird claim that First Lady Melania Trump is sometimes replaced by another woman hidden behind large sunglasses and similar outfits resurfaced after Trump made a trip to the site of a deadly tornado in Alabama last week. "They are only getting more deranged with time!" tweeted the President.

The "View" panelists weighed in on several photos of the First Lady during the segment, discussing whether the woman in the photos was really her.

One host surmised Melania might have been wearing flats.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Trump suggested the "Fake News" tampered with photos of Melania Trump and "propelled conspiracy theories" that she has a body double. The "FakeMelania" hashtag has been around since at least 2017, Trump's first year in office, with Twitter searches producing numerous photos of the first lady and unfounded commentary that the woman in the images is not Melania Trump. "You mean there are two women who have to pretend they're listening to (President Trump)?".

The first lady's communications director Stephanie Grisham rebuked hosts of The View television show for using internet conspiracy theories to ridicule the President and First Lady's appearance during the couple's trip to visit tornado victims. "I wasn't going to go along with this, but that one in that picture doesn't look like her".

Two victims of Ethiopia plane crash with B.C. connections
Ethiopian Airlines has since grounded its Boeing 737 MAX 8 from its fleet following the tragedy. The victims come from 35 countries, and eight of them are American.

Grisham also pointed out the context behind some of the pictures that the women on "The View" were laughing about in their discussion.

Fox & Friends co-host Ainsley Earhardt said it was "so hypocritical".

Ironically, it seems the First Lady herself is a fan of conspiracy theories.

"People died, people lost family and people are hurting in Alabama", Grisham continued in her statement.
