Real Madrid secure Sh5.6 billion Brazil star from Porto - club

The 21-year-old will provide competition for veteran defender Sergio Ramos and World Cup victor Raphael Varane next season, as Madrid look to refresh an ageing squad under Zidane's leadership.

On Thursday they announced the signing of 21-year-old Militao, who will join from Porto in a €50million (£43m) deal in the summer.

"Real Madrid and Porto have agreed the transfer of Eder Militao and the player will sign on a six-year contract running until the 30th of June 2025", a statement read.

The player could yet the be the start of a summer splurge at Real after Zinedine Zidane's unexpected return to the club this week.

Furthermore, Militao can play at right-back if the circumstances call for it. Militao was named as the best defender in the competition for five consecutive matches.

He will have seen out less than 12 months of that agreement before heading to Madrid.

He has enjoyed considerable success in that role before and will be hoping to see Militao help to deliver more once welcomed into the Real fold.
