Son's 'my dad is sad' Tweet sends thousands to take action

Son's 'my dad is sad' Tweet sends thousands to take action

On the morning of March 10, Billy's Donuts was pretty dead. By's tweet received more than 300,000 retweets - one of which came from Twitter's main account. Despite being newly opened, the store began to do surprisingly well days after the post was published.

Later that day, the store had completely sold out of donuts and kolaches.

It didn't take long for By's photos to spread on social media, with others sharing the tweet in an effort to rally the community. Now, after being retweeted more than 334,000 times and like more than 748, 000 times, Billy's dad (who named the shop after his son *tear*) has a new problem: he keeps running out of kolaches and donuts because lines are OUT THE DOOR!

Billy's Donuts was struggling until owner's son tweeted about his "sad dad".

On March 11, Billy tweeted a photo of him with his dad, now all smiles. With the word about his dad's shop spreading quickly, By also shared the address for all the people interested in stopping by.

"Just wanted to update y'all!" His father's freshly-stocked inventory had completely sold out!

"I can't thank everyone enough for coming out and supporting local businesses", Billy wrote in another Twitter post. "You are all awesome". The tweet has got so much response that even good folks of Twitter have said they will drop by the shop to buy doughnuts from there.

As of late Sunday, By's initial post had garnered almost 220,000 retweets and almost 470,000 likes.
