Boeing Suspends Deliveries of 737 Max Jets

It may take several days to complete the first analysis of the flight data and cockpit voice recorders, a spokesman for France's bureau of civil aviation safety (BEA) said.

USA pilots have complained about the 737 Max, saying its systems have limited their control, according to a confidential US government report.

The Federal Aviation Administration said findings from the crash site near Addis and "newly refined satellite data" warranted "further investigation of the possibility of a shared cause for the two incidents".

"At the moment we're putting our focus on operations today and assisting airlines as they try to swap aircraft and potentially move them around to different gates", said Reid Fiest, from the Calgary Airport Authority.

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced airworthiness notifications for the Max 8 after crashes involving an Indonesian Lion Air plane in October a year ago and an Ethiopian Airlines plane on Sunday.

"There is no capacity here so the black box will be sent elsewhere for analysis".

"The safety notice issued by Transport Canada earlier today permitted the movement of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft within Canadian airspace for repositioning", the email reads. The group includes the Max 7, 8, 9 and 10 models.

A Sunwing spokesperson says the aircraft are not commercial flights and that they are positioning them in Windsor for the time being.

The manufacturer said it would continue its production rate of 52 aircraft per month, but its MAX fleet would not be delivered to airlines or leasing companies.

The airline in a statement on Thursday said it does not fly the Boeing 737 MAX-8 aircraft and "will not, and in fact can not, introduce any aircraft into its fleet that does not meet the most stringent global and domestic regulations".

Boeing has confirmed that, for the past few months, it has been developing a "flight control software enhancement" for the aircraft, but says it is confident they are safe to fly.

The accounts of the recent crashes were echoed in concerns registered by U.S. pilots on how the MAX 8 behaves.

The delayed flight ET302 took off from Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa at 08:38 local time (05:38 GMT) and was bound for Kenyan capital Nairobi.

If the aircrafts' maneuvering characteristics augmentation system receives an erroneously high angle-of-attack sensor input, there is potential for repeated nose-down commands of the horizontal stabilizer, the FAA said, adding the condition would made it hard for pilots to control the plane.

Experts say other possible causes of the crashes are being investigated, including other malfunctioning systems and pilot error. "Moreover, the larger risk is the reputational concern for Boeing".

There have been heightened concerns following Sunday's crash of the Ethiopian Airlines' Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft which resulted in deaths of 157 people.
