Whoopi Goldberg makes surprise 'View' appearance after near-death experience

Whoopi Goldberg isn't completely healed, but the host returned to The View for the first time in over a month on Thursday morning and shared her story - surprising her co-hosts in the process.

Goldberg, who received a standing ovation and "Whoopi" chants from the audience, was greeted with hugs from her stunned and teary-eyed co-hosts, who later said they had no prior knowledge of her temporary return. I know that. But the only its only get better if it I begin.

"They had to pump a lot of stuff out of me", she said.

The host said the experience was a "cautionary tale for all of us". I saw her last night and she's very amusing still, and we had big laughs. "But over the next week and a half, I will start to be here more often, but I wanted the first foray to be to come see y'all, because I really kind of miss y'all".

"You must really take care of yourself", she said.

"You think you can push through because you got a little cold, you say, 'I'm just gonna keep going, keep going.' And you think because you've healed quick before, that something insane can't happen".

This being The View, Goldberg also offered her opinion on health insurance, describing how her insurance "advocate" was at odds with her doctor over which in-hospital breathing machine would be paid for.

Thomas Cook Staff Threaten To Remove Woman From Flight Over Outfit
Love Island's Gabby Allen has come out in support of Emily, tweeting "It's safe to say, I will never fly with Thomas Cook again". The airline's cabin services director had spoken to her "to find out more information" about the incident, it added.

Android Q will break clipboard manager apps
For developers, that means supporting new paused and resumed states that allow multiple apps to work on a larger display. We expect more devices will be added to the Android Q beta before long, but for now, it's pretty much a Pixel party.

"If the doctor says this is what you need, I feel like you should listen to the doctor", Goldberg said.

"The scariest moment was hearing my doctor say to me, 'You do realize how close to death you were?'" she went on. "You can not leave this show. We missed you so much!" "I am OK. I'm not dead".

"I came very close to leaving the earth", she admitted. "This has been interesting and I'll tell you about it when we're all at the table". And the people who are saying "no" to you in insurance are not doctors.

Goldberg has co-hosted The View since 2007. "She's not even well enough to host this show right now, let alone the Oscars".

Goldberg humorously said that people actually believed Behar's joke that she was pregnant and that was why she took a break from the show.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
