Past studies have confirmed that hackers use fake antivirus apps to fool unassuming users into downloading malware to their devices.

With security such a major focus, staying safe when connecting to different networks can be challenging. Android Q attempts to fix that. This was an optional setting in Android 9 Pie.

If your app has a feature requiring "all the time" permission, you'll need to add the new ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION permission to your manifest file when you target Android Q. If your app targets Android 9 (API level 28) or lower, the ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION permission will be automatically added for you by the system if you request either ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION or ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION. Developers were tempted to use the platform without knowing its content and once the SimBad-enabled app was installed on any device, the adware automatically connected to command and control servers for further actions.

Notably, the changes will be applied in the Google Play Store for Android and Chrome OS only. With Android Q, that information will be made available to third-party apps. Here's how to get it right now. So, any app that can't even spot those is not worth using. The company has detailed some of the most significant features that are brought along with the new OS. Unfortunately, some of the most popular apps including Snow Heavy Excavator Simulator (10 million downloads), Hoverboard Racing (five million downloads), and Real Tractor Farming Simulator (five million downloads) were also trapped in this scam.

There will also be support for the emerging open source video codec AV1 and HDR10+.

Game and graphics developers will benefit from a standard, updatable OpenGL driver with "experimental support" for ANGLE - a graphics abstraction layer designed for high-performance OpenGL compatibility across implementations. Sometimes, however, those changes entail removing privileges and access to features that some developers and users may have become accustomed to.
