Nvidia GTX 1660 announced for India, costs Rs. 21,500

Nvidia GTX 1660 announced for India, costs Rs. 21,500

Although many Nvidia AIC partners will have their own versions with higher GPU clock, the reference GTX 1660 works at 1530MHz GPU base and 1785MHz GPU Boost clock, while the memory is usually clocked at 8Gbps (2000MHz). These new graphics cards follow on the heels of the recently announced GTX 1660 Ti, bringing even more competitive graphics card options for gamers.

The GTX 1660 uses the same TU116 Turing GPU as the 1660 Ti but has 6GB of DDR5, rather than DDR6 memory. While both cards come with 6GB of VRAM, the GTX 1660 utilizes GDDR5 memory instead of GDDR6 as per GTX 1660 Ti.

Similar to GTX 1660 Ti, NVIDIA also didn't produce Founders Edition card for GTX 1660. It actually packs a slightly faster clock and boost clock speed, however, at 1,530 Mhz and 1,785 Mhz, compared to 1,500 and 1,770 Mhz on the GTX 1660 Ti.

We were informed that GTX 1660 will be made available through NVIDIA GeForce Official Store on Lazada Malaysia soon as well. But at the £200 price mark, it looks to be a good mid-range GPU that will rival the likes of AMD's Radeon RX 590 and will be a direct replacement for the excellent but now oldish GeForce GTX 1060.

With the GTX 1660, NVIDIA claims you will see a performance improvement of 35% over the GTX 1060 3GB at 1080p and over 130% over the GTX 960.

That doesn't seem like a massive hike, but the GTX 1660 is based on Nvidia's latest Turing architecture, which Team Green is likely getting more performance out of.
