Senator smacks teen who egged him over controversial Christchurch comments

AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER SCOTT MORRISON, on Queensland Senator Fraser Anning's Islamophobic comments about the Christchurch mosque shootings.

Earlier in the day, Anning had repeated his claims that Muslim immigration was to blame for Friday's attack, the Herald reported.

Fraser then turns to the teenager, hitting him in the face before two men, identified by the Herald as Anning's supporters, step in and break up the altercation.

Vision live streamed on social media showed Senator Anning punching the teenager twice before others pinned the youth down on the ground, and police arrived.

Rabat- Appearing to have been outraged by inflammatory comments in the aftermath of the Christchurch mosque shootings, a 17-year-old boy cracked a raw egg on the head of an Australian senator during a news conference in Melbourne on Saturday.

The teen, who hasn't been named, was led away by cops.

"I am utterly opposed to any form of violence within our community, and I totally condemn the actions of the gunman", the senator said in his statement.

A teenage protester has egged the Australian senator under fire for his recent statement lashing out at Muslim immigration as a reason behind Friday's mass shooting in New Zealand.

A fundraising page has already been set up to raise cash to cover the teen's legal bills, should he accrue any, as well as cover the cost of "more eggs". Dubbed "Egg Boy" by the internet at large, videos of him egging Anning have garnered worldwide attention. "He should be, frankly, ashamed of himself", said Mr Morrison, who is an evangelical Christian, after visiting Sydney's Lakemba Mosque.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said he denounced Anning's comments.

The Australian government announced that it will censure a right-wing Queensland senator whose "ugly" and "appalling" remarks drew widespread criticism around the country and the world.

While Senator Anning ran on the One Nation ticket at the 2016 poll, he quit the party minutes before being sworn in after falling out with leader Pauline Hanson.

Australian politics and society has been polarised over the issue of immigration and race with far-right politicians making headway in elections.

"Egg Boy takes a punch like a champ then gets choked in a headlock", said one commentator on Twitter.
