A gunman who pledged allegiance to white nationalist causes killed 50 people at two mosques in Christchurch on Friday, and has been remanded on one charge of murder with more to follow.

Fifty people were killed and dozens wounded in the attack at two mosques.

David Tipple, the managing director of Gun City, whose online store sold Tarrant four weapons, said he felt no responsibility for the killings.

Meanwhile, firearms retailer Gun City has come under fire for maintaining a billboard outside Christchurch in the wake of the massacre.

Under New Zealand gun laws, A-category weapons can be semi-automatic but limited to seven shots. The weapons seen in a video of the massacre that Tarrant live-streamed had much larger magazines. Ardern says she's considering whether Tarrant will be extradited to Australia, but that his trial will take place in New Zealand.

"This ultimately means that within 10 days of this horrific act of terrorism, we will have announced reforms which I believe will make our communities safer". Licences of gun dealers must be renewed annually.

Reigning Super Rugby champions Canterbury Crusaders, who play in Christchurch, said on Monday they would consider changing their name after criticism that it was historically insensitive.

John Hart, a gun owner, said on Twitter he had given up his AR-15 rifle and ammunition because his "convenience doesn't outweigh the risk of misuse". "We are not a country of emotional responses, we are a country with laws [and] what we are doing is legal". "We have make sure it's NeverAgain".

Hours before Ms Ardern's appearance, the country's biggest online auction site, TradeMe, banned semi-automatics and "associated" accessories, The Guardian reported.

Facebook alone removed 1.5 million copies of the clip in the first 24 hours of the shooting, 1.2 million of which were deleted at the upload stage.

Grief continued to wash across the nation on Monday, with New Zealanders of all stripes gathering to express revulsion over the killings and unity in the face of racial hatred.

Only firearm owners are licensed, not weapons, so there is no monitoring of how many weapons a person may possess.

In New Zealand, police officers don't routinely carry firearms. He was killed by police.

On Monday, Tarrant's lawyer said his client was not mentally unstale and planned to represent himself in the court.

He said 250 detectives and specialists were conducting the investigation, with jurisdictions all around the world assisting.

Ardern also announced that her government would launch an inquiry into the country's intelligence services. "We are one. They are us", she wrote in the book.

On Monday, the family was still waiting for the release of Hussein's body.

The burial process, which usually involves washing with three kinds of water, salving wounds and scrubbing skin, would be complicated, volunteers in Christchurch said. "And faith was what they died for".

In capital city Wellington, locals of all faiths are invited to Kilbirnie Mosque on March 22 to take part in the formation of a human chain around the outside of the mosque's grounds.

"This is an issue that I will look to be discussing directly with Facebook", Ardern said, adding Sandberg has shared condolences over the shootings in Christchurch on Friday.
