Why Michael Robinson can't see Paul Pogba joining Real Madrid

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has warned his squad he will make "ruthless" decisions as he looks to build a team capable of challenging Manchester City and Liverpool.

Solskjaer acknowledged the possibility of Real Madrid taking an active interest in the World Cup victor and perhaps even mounting a publicity campaign to try to sign him.

"They have to be one of the, how do you say, cultural architects if I put it in a nice word".

Amid the reported interest from Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, Pogba is said to be growing disillusioned by the vision and direction of the club - which has allegedly caused strain in the relationship with the new head coach. I'm talking about the kinds of things which you don't see out on the football pitch.

The Norwegian pinned that decline on a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal, and United failed to register a single shot on target in their 1-0 Champions League quarter-final first leg defeat at home to Barcelona on Wednesday.

It's an interesting dynamic going on, not unlike what the Arizona Cardinals are doing with Josh Rosen and Kyler Murray . One theme that's becoming abundantly clear at this point is that the Bears will target a running back in the draft.

"There have been different players in different periods that have made the difference", said Solskjaer". It's not just about Paul. "That was brilliant. The effort and attitude is there".

In the second edition of Sport Witness' The Daily Paul Pogba which was published on April 11th, we covered claims from AS that Tottenham Hotspur's Christian Eriksen is increasingly being pulled in as an alternative for Real Madrid.

Landing Herrera would be a rare chance to take a player from a top six rival and engineer a free transfer for a player with Premier League experience, who still has plenty more to give.

Solskjaer is not expecting the 30-year-old to figure in a Premier League clash with West Ham on Saturday but is hoping to have him back for European duty on Tuesday.

"I want to work with Mick Phelan and I want him to do the job he's doing", Solskjaer said. Not too many as we've lost Luke and Ashley through suspension. "He's a fantastic guy to have around".
