Trivago spokesman charged with DWI in Houston

The actor who has become something of a sex symbol as the scruffy-faced, somewhat rumpled star of ads for the travel booking site Trivago has been arrested in Texas on a misdemeanour driving while intoxicated charge.

Houston Police say they found him passed out behind the wheel of his auto, with a foot on the brake, in a moving lane of traffic Wednesday.

According to KPRC-TV, the 52-year-old Houston native failed a field sobriety test and submitted to a blood draw to test for booze.

He was arrested and bail was set at a hundred dollars.

In November, Williams appeared in a new commercial "looking a bit more respectable now".

He was in a moving lane of traffic with a foot on the brake, according to police.
