Lori Loughlin, husband plead not guilty in college admissions scam

Lori Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, are going to trial over their roles in the college admissions scandal.

The couple and more than a dozen other parents were hit last week with money laundering conspiracy charges on top of the mail fraud conspiracy charges they were already facing.

Actress Lori Loughlin and her husband intend to plead not guilty to charges stemming from a nationwide college entrance cheating scandal, but don't want to travel all the way to Boston to do so, according to court documents filed Monday.

Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, who live in Los Angeles, are accused of fraud conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy in an alleged bribery scam that prosecutors say was meant to secure admission for their two daughters to the University of Southern California.

The UTA-repped Loughlin and Giannulli were part of a yearlong investigation that also snared American Crime star Huffman and more than 30 other parents.

Several other indicted parents have also entered not guilty pleas, while fellow actor Felicity Huffman, who starred in ABC's Desperate Housewives and 12 other parents have agreed to plead guilty.

Each of the charges Loughlin and Giannulli face call for up to 20 years in prison, although first-time offenders would get only a small fraction of that if convicted.

Loughlin has been criticized for seemingly not taking the indictment as seriously as others. Their daughters have not returned to school since news broke.

Prosecutors have said they will seek a prison sentence on the low end of four to 10 months for Huffman, who was charged with paying $15,000 to boost her daughter's SAT score.

Loughlin's attorney has not yet responded to our request for comment.

Loughlin reportedly rejected the deal not realizing "how serious this is", according to a report. She was smiling and waving to fans on the way into court earlier this month.
