Colorado authorities searching for Columbine-obsessed woman who threatened Denver schools

The 20-year anniversary of the shooting is on Saturday.

Officials said after school activities will be held at all schools except Columbine, but didn't explain why.

The FBI's Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force issued a notice describing Pais as "infatuated with (the) Columbine school shooting".

The alert said police who come into contact with her should detain her and evaluate her mental health. It's not clear where she came from.

The district said the decision to close campuses was in collaboration with other Denver metro-area school districts. Some say they just want to pay their respects, but others claim they are in love with the shooters - or sometimes that they have been reincarnated with the shooters' souls.

The Department of Public Safety urged schools urged schools to tighten security, and more than 20 put lockdowns in place.

On April 20, 1999, a pair of students rampaged through Columbine High School, murdering 12 of their classmates and a teacher and wounding 24 before killing themselves. Authorities requested the lockout in Jefferson County on Tuesday afternoon as they searched for the suspect, whose description was released on Twitter with a warning not to approach her. They appealed for anyone seeing her to call an Federal Bureau of Investigation tip line at 303 630-6227, and said she is too unsafe to be approached by civilians.

That system was tested in December, when Columbine High School went into lockout for hours on a Thursday.

Patricia Billinger, a spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Public Safety, says the agency made the recommendation because Tuesday's threat was deemed "credible and general". As the district prepares for the day's memorial events, it is fending off an onslaught of curious strangers who trespass in the parking lot of the high school - sometimes more than 30 people in a single day. City police have provided extra security as students were being released, the district tweeted. But a sheriff's office spokesman, Mike Taplin, said the anniversary of the Columbine mass shooting was not a "direct" factor.

Authorities said Tuesday they are looking for an 18-year-old woman suspected of making threats against Columbine High School, just days before the 20th anniversary of a mass shooting that killed 13 people.

She was last seen in the foothills of Jefferson County Monday, but the exact location was not divulged.

"It is our understanding they are searching for a suspicious person", Wilson said.

Authorities said they are being especially cautious because Pais' statements don't express a specific plan and were mostly spoken.

Twenty years ago this month Columbine High School in Colorado became the scene of one of the worst schootings in history.
